Parliament House

The centre of Government in the State of Victoria is Parliament House.

Sitting on Spring Street at the top of Bourke Street, the majestic Parliament Building sits, looking down upon the city of Melbourne.

The building was completed in stages between 1856 and 1929 and has been the sitting place of the Victorian State Parliament since 1855, except for the years 1901 to 1927 when it was the sitting place of the Federal Parliament.

Steeped in history, the Parliament building is open to the public and tours of the building are available when Parliament is not sitting.

The Victorian State Parliament Building is accessible by tram, train (Parliament Underground Station) and by foot from the city.
